Location: Detroit, MI
Project Type: Merchandise, Community Outreach

My Thoughts
As the Community Outreach Coordinator and Head of Fashion Apparel at YouthTank Detroit, I played a key role in launching a youth business incubator designed to empower underprivileged students in the city. The program aimed to provide hands-on entrepreneurial education and opportunities for young people to turn their ideas into actionable business ventures. To fund and promote the initiative, I led the creation of a merchandise line that not only raised $5,000 but also became a symbol of the program’s mission and vision.

My work gained significant attention, being featured on CBS News and Fox2News, which highlighted the program’s impact on the community. Over the course of the program, I helped deliver entrepreneurial workshops and mentorship to over 400 students, equipping them with practical skills, confidence, and inspiration to pursue their dreams. I also forged partnerships with 10 local businesses, securing resources and opportunities that directly supported the students’ growth and learning.

One of the most rewarding aspects of this role was blending my passion for fashion with community-driven initiatives. Designing the merchandise line allowed me to explore the intersection of creative branding and social impact, while the outreach component deepened my commitment to youth empowerment. This experience not only strengthened my leadership and project management skills but also reinforced my belief in the transformative power of education and collaboration to create lasting change.
